Robb Wagner is one of the most interesting and multi-talented media creators working today. His background in producing and directing broadcast and live entertainment strongly influences his work. Wagner’s reputation for collaboration, responsiveness and his ability to contribute to the vision the project is unparalleled. Working in television, film and concerts, his wealth of unique experience in not only production and directing, but also his appreciation of technology makes him uniquely aware of individual components working together to form a bigger picture. He is adept at crafting the individual pieces and bringing them together as one.

His most recent work can be seen in Sony’s feature film, “Michael Jackson’s This Is It”. Wagner worked closely with Jackson and Director Kenny Ortega, as Film and Video Producer for Jackson’s planned, “This Is It” concert tour. Previously, he’s been sought out as the go-to resource for top-line live productions and events such as the world tour of super-girl-group the Pussycat Dolls, “Hannah Montana: Best of Both Worlds 3D” concert film, the “58th Annual Prime Time Emmy Awards”, “Live Earth: The Concerts for a Climate in Crisis”, and Tom Petty’s halftime performance at Super Bowl XLIII, the most-watched super bowl half-time show on record.

Wagner earned his membership in the Directors Guild of America in 1998, and launched his own media production company, Stimulated, Inc., in 2005.

Prior to launching Stimulated, Wagner was Producer of “VH1 Big in 2003”, and Content Producer & Screens Director for the “2004 MTV Video Music Awards”. Wagner also helped launch “On-Air with Ryan Seacrest”, working as Associate Director of the live music and entertainment program.

History

Robb Wagner saw the need for inspired content, and in January 2005 started a company to produce high quality media for broadcast, live and theatrical entertainment. Stimulated was immediately recognized, being recruited by the “77th Annual Academy Awards”.  The company’s varied and satisfied client roster grew throughout its first year. Stimulated went on to produce material for VH1’s “Big in ‘05”, the “58th Primetime Emmy Awards,” the “2005 MTV Video Music Awards,” and “VH1 Rock Honors.”

Stimulated’s profile and reputation continued to expand, highlighted by its work at ABC’s “American Music Awards,” Disney’s blockbuster, “High School Musical: The Concert Tour”, Fergie’s solo tour of the US and Asia, and its second annual “VH1 Rock Honors”.

In July 2007, Stimulated stepped into a new role as a leading edge technology company at “Live Earth: The Concerts For A Climate In Crisis”.  The company became a go-to creative and technical resource for high quality visual media at major entertainment events. That same year Wagner worked alongside Director Bruce Hendricks, filming Disney’s wildly successful “Hannah Montana: Best of Both Worlds” 3D Concert Film.

The following year saw Stimulated return for its third annual “VH1 Rock Honors,” featuring an all star line-up in a tribute to The Who, its second “Emmy Awards”, a Celine Dion special for CBS, the “2008 MTV Movie Awards” featuring Coldplay and the Pussycat Dolls, and the “Super Bowl XLII Halftime Show”, the most-watched super bowl halftime show on record.

Recognized and respected for creativity, innovation and reliability, Stimulated was handpicked for “Michael Jackson’s This Is It” concert tour in 2009. Robb Wagner worked closely with Jackson and his Co-Director, Kenny Ortega, helping Jackson realize his dream for the tour. Jackson’s vision included state-of-the-art short films and visual effects sequences, which Stimulated produced in the months prior to Jackson’s untimely passing. Much of the work Stimulated produced with Jackson is featured in “Michael Jackson’s This Is It”.

Stimulated is unique for being adept in the creative and technical aspects of broadcast, live and filmed entertainment. The company continues to raise the bar in media production and exhibition, in a uniquely wide and ever growing array of mediums.

But Wagner was left feeling underwhelmed by the video quality of the media servers used alongside higher quality video playback systems.

Impressed by the work he had done on VH1 Big in 2005, and VH1 Rock Honors, Def Leppard called Robb Wagner to produce videos for their highly successful “Yeah” concert tour.

Frontman, Joe Elliot said:
When Robb Wagner was suggested for the “Yeah!” tour, we immediately said yes. He’d already impressed the hell out of us with his sterling work at the VH1 Rock Honors back in May. I sent him a ton of archive material. He & his team of willing workers weeded their way through it all. I think the true testament of what he did is that when we first saw what he’d done we didn’t change a thing !!!! I only saw it twice (from the stage during rehearsals) but I loved it. I spent the next six months taking all the compliments night after night from friends, colleagues & fans whose comments only cemented our beliefs that we’d done something really special. Thanx Robb, let’s do it again, only BIGGER !!!!!

MICHAEL JACKSON’S THIS IS IT FEATURE FILM
In the weeks following Michael Jackson’s passing the fate of the “Dome Project” was uncertain. The films were incomplete, but we knew in our hearts Michael’s fans deserved to appreciate the work he wanted to put forth at his comeback tour. Michael’s Co-Director, Kenny Ortega felt the same way, and when Sony agreed to let him tell the story of “This Is It”, he made sure the Dome Project was part of the story.

Michael’s fans have now been treated to excerpts and behind the scenes footage from “The Dome Project” thanks to “This Is It.” How fans will be able to view the state of the art films in their entirety is still unknown. This work was intended to be part of one of the most exciting entertainment events possible, a Michael Jackson concert. The fans deserve their chance to appreciate The Dome Project, and we have no doubt that time will come.
